Our 2025 Sustainability Report shows how we’re making sustainability practical, affordable, and part of everyday life. From recycling batteries, lightbulbs, and garden pots to finding ways to reduce construction waste, we’re helping customers make better choices.
Sustainability is about people and partnerships, as well as planet. We’ve collectively invested over $3.3 million in community support and projects and over 2,000 community groups have used the BBQs at our stores for fundraising.

Recycled Paint
Mitre 10 is excited to support Resene with their recycled paint range. RE:Paint is an outdoor paint with a low sheen/satin paint finish made from recycled waterborne paint, recycled in New Zealand through the Resene PaintWise recycling service. Resene Paintwise is the only paint product stewardship programme in New Zealand, accredited by the Ministry for the Environment.

Waste Hierarchy Funnel
Did you know recycling is one of the last steps in the waste hierarchy funnel? Before we recycle or dispose of rubbish, there are other steps we can take.
1. Waste Prevention- Avoid buying, and instead borrow or share
2. Reuse – Maintain and fix rather than buy again or replace
3. Repurpose – Upcycle, sell 2nd hand, share or gift
4. Recycling – Use council kerbside or take to recycling collection points like Mitre 10 pot recycle bins
5. Disposal – Last resort into landfill
