Ceramic heaters warm up quickly and deliver targeted heat, making them a good choice for offices, study nooks and bathrooms where you want fast warmth in a small area. A ceramic heating element sits behind a fan, so the air warms almost immediately when you switch on. Look for thermostats, oscillation, tip-over switches and overheat protection, plus a timer if you plan to leave the heater running.

Are ceramic heaters energy efficient?

Ceramic heaters are as efficient as any other 2kW electric heater at converting power into heat. Their advantage is that they reach full output in under a minute, so you can heat a small space quickly then switch off, rather than running a slower heater for longer. Models with a thermostat and eco mode cycle the element to hold temperature, which reduces running costs.

Where is the best place to use a ceramic heater?

Ceramic fan heaters suit small to medium rooms where you need heat fast, such as home offices, study corners, bathrooms and garages. They are not ideal for bedrooms if you are sensitive to fan noise, and they are not built to heat a large living room on their own. Keep the heater on a flat, stable surface at least 1m from furniture and curtains.
